Peak District walk: Burbage Edge, Padley Gorge, Higger Tor loop

Getting there

Public transport: Take the train to the Grindleford station.

Drive/carpool.

Clothing/shoes

It is cold (obviously), so wear warm clothing and pack hand gloves - the weather can be finicky. If possible, you should also have rain gear, coats, pants, or a change of clothes. Hiking or walking shoes are compulsory, please - no sneakers, slippers, or bare feet.

Food/drinks

The walk should take about 3 – 4 hours, so pack brunch or light snacks and drinks - it's completely up to you. Typically, we should have a break for food and rest.

Weather

Unpredictable. That is what it is. So come prepared – see previous points.

Fitness level

The distance is about 13 km/8 miles with an elevation of 366 metres/1,200 ft – so you need to be okay with walking/hikes and some going uphill.

** Internal rating - medium effort (please take with a pinch handful of salt).

Accessibility

Unfortunately, there are no accessibility provisions for this hike. We will do better as soon as we can.

Tickets

Hiking with blackside is free, of course. Tickets are to understand how many people are joining.

And, please, please, please, we understand that things happen and plans change, but if you already have a ticket and can’t join, let us know in advance.
