Sheffield walk: Furnace Hill – Whiteley Woods – Endcliffe Woods loop
General
Last-minute but mostly easy walk along paved roads and then through woods and parks.
The planned route is about 13km/8 miles.
Getting there
The starting point, Copper Street, is off Furnace Hill and opposite The Gym Group Kelham Island.
Clothing/shoes
It is getting colder, so wear warm clothing and pack hand gloves if possible – the weather can be finicky. Pack rain gear, waterproof coats, pants or a change of clothes in your (waterproof) bag (or vehicle). Hiking/walking shoes are compulsory, please – no sneakers or slippers. Or bare feet.
Food/drinks
The walk should take about 3 hours so you can pack brunch or light snacks and drinks – it’s completely up to you. Typically, there should be a break in the walks for food/rest.
Weather
Unpredictable. That is what it is. So come prepared – see previous points.
Fitness level
The distance is about 13km in Sheffield; expect significant elevations – so you should be okay with walking and some going uphill.
** Still low-medium effort.
Accessibility
Accessible for wheel/motorised chairs/carriers.
Tickets
The walk is free, of course. Tickets are just to understand how many people are joining.
And, please please please, we understand that things happen and plans change, but if you already got a ticket and can’t join, let us know in advance.
